This policy explains what personal information Chufed collects when you visit chufed.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
Information you give us
When you place an order we collect your name, billing and delivery address, email address and telephone number. When you contact us or subscribe to our emails, we collect your name and email address and whatever you choose to write to us.
We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Card details are entered directly with our payment providers.
Information collected automatically
When you browse this website, we and our service providers automatically collect device and browsing data: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, what you clicked, and the website or advertisement that referred you.
This is collected through cookies and similar technologies placed in your browser. We use it to keep the site working (remembering your cart, keeping you signed in), to understand which pages people find useful, and to measure whether our advertising is reaching the right people.
Cookies and marketing platforms
We use the following categories of cookie:
- Strictly necessary — set by Shopify, our ecommerce platform, to run the cart and checkout and to keep the site secure. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics, which tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and where they leave. This is reported to us in aggregate.
- Advertising and measurement — Google Ads and Google Merchant Center. These let us measure whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to buy, and allow us to show relevant ads to people who have visited the site. Google may set its own cookies and combine this with data it already holds about you under its own privacy policy.
- Email marketing — if you subscribe, our email provider records whether you opened a message or clicked a link, so we can stop sending to people who are not interested.
You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google's advertising cookies at google.com/settings/ads. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop checkout working.
Why we collect it
We use order and delivery information to fulfil your order and support you afterwards. We use analytics and advertising data to run and improve the shop, and you can opt out of that at any time. We keep records of transactions because we are legally required to for tax purposes.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with the providers who make the shop work: Shopify (hosting and checkout), our payment providers, UPS (delivery), our email provider, and Google (analytics and advertising measurement). Each processes it on our instructions.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We should be straightforward about one thing, though: several state privacy laws define "selling" and "sharing" broadly enough that using advertising and measurement cookies can fall within them. If you would rather we did not, use the opt-out instructions in the section above or email us and we will handle it for you.
We may disclose information where we are legally required to, for example in response to a lawful request from a public authority.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for seven years to meet US tax and accounting requirements. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained on our providers' standard schedules, typically 14 to 26 months.
Your rights
Depending on the state you live in, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to have your information deleted, to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of your information, and to receive your information in a portable format. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these — you will not get worse prices or worse service.
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other states with comparable laws have these rights by statute. We extend the same rights to every customer regardless of where they live, because operating two standards is more trouble than it is worth.
To exercise any of these, email support@chufed.com. We will respond within 45 days. You can also withdraw consent for marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your state Attorney General's office.
Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Our chair is sold to adults, including adults buying it for a teenager. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our shop changes. The version on this page is always the current one.
